Dear Birth Parent(s),
Thank you for taking time to read our letter. We hope that this letter gives you a glimpse into our lives and helps you understand how much we want to become loving parents through adoption. We admire you for your selfless act and for deciding on an adoption plan.
We are so excited to start a family through adoption. Ashley has three adopted cousins from Korea and one cousin is Puerto Rican descent who was born in the US. Phil’s cousins adopted domestically five months ago. Our families and friends are very supportive of our adoption plan.
I, Ashley, have my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. I currently teach high school Special Education Math. I am also a volunteer EMT for a local fire company. In my spare time I enjoy reading, mostly mystery books.
I, Phil, have my master’s degree in Biology and Education. One of my most enjoyable aspects of school is the time I spend as the head coach of the girls cross country team and as the assistant coach of the girls track and field team. In my free time, I still enjoy running and am an avid golfer.
We have a very close relationship which allows us to communicate and work together to solve problems. We are both very supportive of each other’s differences and embrace our similarities. We enjoy participating in various activities together, such as spending time with family and friends, traveling, participating in outdoor adventures, and trying new activities. We strongly value education and intend to give our child every opportunity to explore the world. We plan on traveling over the summer and taking our child on different adventures to enhance their learning and real world experience.
Our home has 3 bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms, a family room, a dining room, and an eat-in kitchen. We have a finished basement that will become a playroom for our child. Our neighborhood has a playground and walking paths.
Ashley’s parents, sister and brother-in-law live close by and we see them once a week. Phil’s parents split time between Cape May, New Jersey and Venice, Florida. We spend weekends during the summer at the beach visiting his parents. Phil’s sister and brother-in-law live in Virginia Beach with their two sons, who are currently 3 years old and 10 months old. We see them a couple times a year. There are many more members of the families that are located all around us and we enjoy spending time with them on various occasions.
Both of our families have many traditions that we enjoy. Father’s Day weekend, there is a big race that many of Phil’s family members run. After the race, everyone goes back to Phil’s Aunt and Uncle’s house for a big cookout. Ashley’s favorite family tradition is the annual Christmas cookie contest. We each cook a different cookie at the same time in her Mom’s kitchen. Then her Dad judges the cookies and awards prizes. Later that night, we all sit down and watch a Christmas movie while enjoying our fresh baked cookies.
We hope that this letter helps give you a strong idea of our life together and the possibilities in store for an addition to our family.
With warm hearts,
Phil & Ashley |
