Dear Birth Parent(s)

It is with great admiration and appreciation that we begin this letter.  We had the pleasure of welcoming our first child through adoption and are aware of how much strength and courage it takes on your part to create an adoption plan.  We are excited to introduce our family to you and appreciate your time spent getting to know us. We hope that through this letter and our photo book you will see how important our family and friends are to us, and our enthusiasm for growing our family!

A Little About Us
We were introduced to each other 13 years ago by very good friends of ours, and as cliché as it may sound, we were instantly connected to one another!  It was a pleasant surprise discovering how much we had in common.  We are both from biracial families (Mexican and Caucasian), raised as Catholics, maintained close relationships with our parents, siblings, and grandparents, and were in a place in our lives where we openly welcomed love.  We have been married now for 11 ½ years and continue to be impressed by and confident in our journey together as partners – all due to our solid foundation of respect, admiration, understanding, and faith.

We welcomed our daughter Periana on October 27, 2007.  She was born in San Antonio, Texas and we were fortunate enough to be able to meet her when she was only 12 hours old.  It is with absolute pleasure and joy that we say our lives have not been the same since.  She is now an active three year old who loves attending her dance classes, swimming lessons, and playing with friends.  She has a very outgoing personality and a great sense of humor.  She is a fantastic little girl!

We are an active family and love to be on the go.  Our weekends are filled with dinners with friends, Periana’s dance classes, playing at the park, the occasional movie, trips to the zoo, video conferencing on the computer with grandparents, and lots of snuggling on the sofa!  During the week, dinner at the table is a priority.  Periana loves to help prepare dinner and of course guides our conversation!  We try to limit the amount of activities during the week so that we are able to capitalize on all of our time together.

We love to travel and explore the world and now have a little girl who has the “travel bug” as well!  At least once a summer we spend a week at the beach.  All of us love the sun and the water.  Mexico is our favorite place to visit because the beaches are beautiful, we can practice our Spanish, and we absolutely love the people.  We have also traveled to the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas, Belize, and Spain.  We enjoy traveling with just the three of us but have also had some really wonderful vacations with our family and friends!

Our Home and Neighborhood

We live in family-friendly community outside the city that allows us access to one of the best school districts in the state along with numerous amenities for families.  We started the process of building our house right before Periana was born and we moved into it when she was 6 months old.  It is absolutely perfect for us.  Our home is on a corner lot right across the street from the park and neighborhood swimming pool.  Since we moved in, we have utilized both on a regular basis!   The beautiful Colorado mountains provide the perfect backdrop for our backyard and park activities.  We have had the great fortune of making many close friendships since we moved in and spend many of our weekends with the neighbors eating pizza and watching the kids play!  During the summer we spend most days at the pool and enjoy lots of play dates with friends.  We share our home with our eleven-year old Cocker Spaniel, Allie.  She is the sweetest, most gentle natured dog and spends most of her time snuggled up resting near one of us!

Adoption
Sharing our life and love through the special privilege of adoption is something that we cherish and value.  Our adoption path has been supported and encouraged by both family and friends. Adoption has allowed us the beautiful opportunity to grow our family and our entire family is waiting with great anticipation to welcome the newest little member. As both of us are extremely close to our siblings, we are looking forward to watching the relationship bloom between Periana and her new sibling.  We are certain that that we will be able to offer another child all the love, support, and opportunities in life that a happy, healthy family can provide.

Most Sincerely,

Todd & Micki
