Dear Birth Parent(s)

Thank you very much for taking the time to learn about our family. We hope that our profile will give you a glimpse into our lives. Still, a few paragraphs on a couple sheets of paper may not properly describe us to you, so feel free to contact us if you have questions we don't address.

From Aaron,

So, you must be wondering who we are and what brought us to this decision to adopt, and whether we would
be good parents for your child. Here is a little bit about us. Megan and I have been married for approximately six years, and have one son which we adopted about a year and a half ago from Guatemala. He is a wonderful little 2 years old. He is fascinated with every baby he sees, even though he doesn't understand that we're planning a little brother or sister for him.

When Megan and I were dating and starting to think more seriously about getting married, she told me that when she was a little girl she realized one day that she wanted to adopt. I realized that I too could love a child we adopted without reservation. We didn't know at that point that we would not be able to have children by birth. God must have put that desire into her heart at such a young age for this very reason. I am a computer programmer, which I enjoy very much. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing the piano, drawing, painting, snowboarding, and most recently scuba diving.

From Megan,
Like Aaron said, it has been my dream to adopt since I was a little girl, I just didn't know how appropriate that dream would be for me. I'm so thankful the Lord blessed me with such a desire. Our home is nestled among trees in the middle of a small sub-division, and our neighbors are absolutely wonderful. Before we had even moved in we had neighbors welcoming us to the neighborhood. We don't have any pets right now, but the people next door have three dogs, which Camen loves. I'm sure that's why one of his first words was "puppy".

Aaron and I both have Bachelor degrees. Mine is in Nursing and his is in Computer Science. We greatly value education and intend to give our children every opportunity possible. Aaron and I have a great relationship. We don't always agree, but we've learned how to talk through our disagreements. Sometimes it means taking some time to think about the issue at hand and then finishing our discussion. Other times it means finding a compromise that we both can live with. We love spending our time together, playing board games, mini-golf, and riding bicycles. We also enjoy taking vacations where we can snow skiing, scuba dive, hike & camp, or just relax on the beach….though not all in the same vacation.

Our family and friends have been very supportive of our decision to adopt, and of our son Camen. Aaron's uncle is from Mexico City, he and Aaron's aunt adopted their children from Mexico. So adoption has been an accepted, normal part of his family for years. We've just added to that heritage. In my family I was the first to adopt, but when they heard our plan to adopt Camen they were ecstatic, knowing it was my lifelong dream. They were equally excited to hear of our new plan to adopt. Camen and his cousins enjoy playing together, and he loves to spend time with his grandparents. Our friends have been equally welcoming. I can't imagine a better group of friends.

I teach a Spanish class to kids on Monday mornings because we want Spanish to be a second language in our home. I'm not fluent. Aaron's conversant, though he won't admit it. When we travel to Spanish-speaking countries he does most of the talking for us. Our plan is to spend a month somewhere doing a full immersion program to jump start our use of Spanish, but we're budgeting for an adoption first :)

From Camen,
Baby! Wa-Wa!? Puppy!! Guy! Book?

Translation: Look there's a baby! Can I have some water? Look at the puppy!! There's a guy! Can we read this book now? .. .guess he's tired of writing so I'll add a bit about him.

Camen is 2 years old from Guatemala. He is a sweet laidback boy who is often hugging us and his friends. He is generally happy and likes to make others smile. Camen enjoys reading books more than anything else, but he also loves construction machines, fruit, and bath time. Because of his sweet disposition and fascination with babies we're certain he'll be a great big brother!

From All of Us,
We are so excited about the opportunity to bring another child into our family. We want you to know that we would offer your baby the same love, care, and opportunities that Camen has. We also look forward to working with you to create an adoption plan that is comfortable for all involved. Thank you for taking time to learn more about us and for considering us as a future home for your child.

Sincerely,

Aaron & Megan
