Dear Birth Parent(s)

As we write this letter, we can't help but be reminded of being in elementary school gym class waiting to be picked for a game of kickball. You are the captain with a very important decision of which adoptive parents to pick, and we are on the sidelines secretly shouting, "Pick us!" While we don't know you, we already admire you for your love and selflessness in deciding to have an adoption plan for your baby. We hope this letter will give you confidence that if you pick us, your baby will be given lots of unconditional love as well as many opportunities throughout life.

Our marriage has been strengthened by the rollercoaster of the many miscarriages we have had. For four years, we have done all we can to have a baby but despite our best efforts and numerous shots and drugs, we have decided that finding our baby through adoption is part of God's plan for us. The truth is that we just want to be parents and feel that adoption is a wonderful opportunity to share our lives and love with a child. A baby would bring so much joy to our lives as we both love children and can’t imagine life without them.

Phil and I were married July 5, 2003, after dating two years.  We met at the zoo in the monkey section to a band ironically called "The Love Monkeys ", and it was love at first sight (I know that sounds just like in the movies but it was like that). We have a very stable and happy marriage built on trust, communication, and honesty.  We are each other’s best friends and can't imagine being with anyone else. We enjoy many activities such as hiking, biking, boating, swimming, fishing, basketball, tennis, baseball, football, skiing, yoga, photography, music, traveling, and visiting with friends and family. We love to travel and try to get away at least once a year for fun. Some vacations of ours have included: Hawaii, Florida, Boston, New York, New Mexico, Martha's Vineyard, Cayman Islands, Belize, Cozumel, and Jamaica to name a few. We look forward to taking our child to Disney World and other child friendly places as we are both kids at heart who love adventure and fun.

Like many families today, we both work. However, we love what we do and are lucky enough to hold family friendly jobs. Phil's college degree is in business and he is a hardware store owner who has flexible hours that will allow him to spend lots of time with our child. I hold a Master's degree in education and work as a high school English teacher, a job I've been doing for the past fourteen years. As a mother, I will enjoy vacations and summers at home. My knowledge and experience of child development will be an advantage to us in parenting a child. If my work allows me to, I plan to take off the first six months of the baby's life to bond.

Our families play a crucial role in our lives and are very supportive of our decision to adopt. You can be assured that your child will be welcomed with open arms and given lots of unconditional love. On Phil's side, we have four nieces whom we cherish and enjoy spending time with. On my side, your child would be the first grandchild (you can only imagine how much my parents are looking forward to the first baby)! My parents live on a lake only five minutes from our home and would help baby-sit when needed. Phil's parents live two hours north on a dairy farm but visit frequently. Our child would have the unique opportunity of enjoying the farm animals as well as the lake creatures.

We will provide your child with a nurturing home environment that includes lots of encouragement, opportunities, guidance, and fun. Our three bedrooms home is located in a neighborhood that is family oriented and safe.  We live on a pond that can be used for fishing, boating or ice skating. Our neighborhood has three parks and miles of bike paths as well as tennis courts and a softball diamond.  We already have a swing set in our backyard waiting for our future child. The education here is the finest in the state, and we are close to libraries, museums, festivals and numerous cultural events.

Our baby would be loved from birth and will know of having been adopted from a young age. We want our child to know that it was because of your love that he/she was brought into our hearts and home.

We sincerely hope that you pick us to be on your team!

Phil & Christine
