A look Into Our Life
Our Extended Families
![]() |
Our extended families are very supportive of us and we value them. Betty’s family visits regularly, because they live within a short distance of each other. They are very generous and are always willing to host a family get together or help with food for events at our house. They love Mateo and enjoy being with him any chance they can get. |
Each fall, we take a family visit to the local pumpkin patch with Mateo. We enjoy picking out pumpkins and other activities like children’s carnival rides and pony rides. In this photo, Betty’s stepfather, Tony, enjoys the day with Mateo. |
Bill’s family is also very thoughtful. We visit them a few times per year. Since we have to travel some distance, we are able to stay at Bill’s sister’s home. She and her husband and their daughter enjoy spending time with him. |

Mateo is very close to his aunt Barbara. She regularly spends time with him and she has a knack for the types of activities that children enjoy. |
Our Home
We have lived in our home for 13 years. In 2001, we built an addition on our home to expand it to include a family room, an extra bedroom and a play area. Although we live in a suburb, we are close to the central part of our village, so we can walk to schools, the library, many parks, a local pool, and restaurants. We also enjoy walking to our local farmers’ market in the summer and buying fresh fruits and vegetables. In addition, our neighborhood association sponsors regular events such as a fall fest and Easter Egg Hunt for the children. We also know two families in the neighborhood who have adopted children from Guatemala as well as China, so there are other children living in adoptive families and going to our local school. |
