Our Story

A favorite song of ours by Maná says it best: “Bendito el lugar, y el motivo de estar ahí, bendita la coincidencia, bendito el reloj, que nos puso puntual ahí, bendita sea tu presencia, bendito Dios por encontrarnos en el camino…” — Blessed be the place and the reason for being there, blessed be the coincidence, blessed be the clock that put us there on time, blessed be your presence, blessed be God for finding each other along the way.

My mom always used to say, “Sweetheart, it’s going to take someone from another country to make you happy.” I was always a little exotic myself, an adventurer, curious for the extraordinary, and always eager to explore and experience more than my small town could offer. Meanwhile, Iván with only a carry-on bag and everything else left behind, was ready for the adventure of a lifetime, ready to leave the world he knew and step into something different, challenging, and exciting. He boarded a plane and fate took care of the rest.

In the most unlikely of circumstances, 20 years ago, our paths crossed for the first time on an ordinary weekday in a small-town Mexican restaurant. However cliché it might sound, it truly was love at first sight. We have been inseparable ever since.

Our precious little daughter, Milana is a ray of sunshine. She is smart, energetic, and very happy. She sings all the time, dances often, puts makeup on her papa, and serves her mama tea in little cups. She loves dance class and soccer, and Iván is the coach of her team. She enjoys running and exercising with us. She speaks Spanish and English fluently and takes wonderful care of her little dolls. She wishes with all her heart for a sister or brother to care for and play with.

Our Home

We live in a beautiful suburb of the city, considered one of the most desirable places to live in our state. Our neighborhood is completely walkable, and from our front door we can stroll to local shops, restaurants, the pool, and parks. Most afternoons, you’ll find families sitting on porches and children playing in the front yards. Our home is warm, welcoming, and filled with laughter. It is a three-bedroom house with a fenced-in backyard where we enjoy many happy moments together as a family. The yard features a covered patio and plenty of fun toys to play with. The school system here is ranked number one in the state, and we are surrounded by safe streets, friendly neighbors, and plenty of places for children to play and explore.

Our community offers the perfect blend of small-town charm with easy access to all the amenities of the city. Downtown has farmers’ markets, little shops, and family events we look forward to each year.

Our street is full of families with children of all ages. Neighbors regularly gather for block parties, complete with bouncy houses, popsicles, and hot dogs. On Saturdays, lemonade stands pop up, and every Easter, we hide eggs in yards for all the children to find. At Christmas, a large star lights up the street as we gather the kids to go caroling together. It’s a safe, welcoming place where kids can grow, play, and feel surrounded by love.

Iván's Family

Our family is spread across Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Venezuela. Milana has many little cousins around her age, and we stay connected through regular FaceTime calls to watch all the kids grow up together. Iván’s mom, aunt, and cousins live nearby and visit often. With Iván’s family, we make hallacas and pan de jamón, and celebrate New Year’s by walking around the block with grapes and suitcases—a fun Venezuelan tradition that everyone looks forward to.

Angel’s parents are also close and enjoy spending time with us. Milana loves spending weekends with her Nan, Grandpa, Abuelito, Abuelita, and her Tía. Our families come together for backyard grill-outs, bouncy house parties, neighborhood walks, and trips to the park. We go fishing on Grandpa’s boat and enjoy holiday traditions that blend our cultures. With Angel’s family, we enjoy traditional American holiday meals like honey baked ham at Christmas and stuffed turkey at Thanksgiving. We love this beautiful mix of cultures and celebrations that bring us all together.

Our Fur Babies

Sebastian, our three-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, Luna, a two-year-old English Bulldog, and Camilla, our ten-year-old Miniature Schnauzer, keep our home lively and full of joy. These sweet, playful, and loving companions are always full of energy. We enjoy taking walks together and playing in the backyard. Milana especially loves taking Luna for a ride in the wagon to the neighborhood creamery for ice cream or to the local taco shop to eat tacos outside.

Oh, The Places You'll Go!

We love to travel and experience different cultures together. We have visited most of the Caribbean islands, sailed on a catamaran, and swum with stingrays. In Italy, we explored the Colosseum and the Vatican in Rome and enjoyed the vibrant city of Milan - the city we named our daughter after. We have admired the historic architecture of Madrid and taken the train to Barcelona, where we savored fresh sardines and aged wine straight from the barrels.

Our adventures have also taken us riding ATVs through Santorini, Greece, and driving a jeep on the opposite side of the road across Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands. We’ve taken Milana to the beach and can’t wait to continue traveling as a family, creating new memories together as our children grow. Next on our list is the breathtaking Amalfi Coast.

So Much Fun!

We enjoy spending time together as a family and making the most of every moment. Some of our favorite activities include riding the train at the zoo to see the animals, cruising around the neighborhood on the golf cart, and playing kickball in the park with friends. We love going to free outdoor concerts during the warmer months, spending sunny days at our community pool with its fun slides and happy music, and joining in on our town’s “We Love Our Community Day,” filled with amusement rides, dancing in the streets, and local vendors. On weekends, we often visit the park and then stop for sushi before heading home. We can’t wait to add your child to these special moments, taking weekend bicycle rides, visiting the beach, the museum, the science center, and the aquarium. We look forward to sharing all the fun, silly, and joyful moments that make our family so full of love and laughter.

In the fall, one of the highlights is visiting the pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkin. Throughout the season, there’s also the excitement of collecting candy at the holiday parades like The Witches’ Ride, The Santa Stroll, and the Christmas Parade. Birthday parties also take on a special flair, often hosted in the front yard with the entire neighborhood invited, complete with bounce houses, cake, and pizza. It’s a time filled with festive outings, community spirit, and memorable moments.
