If you're pregnant and considering adoption, worrying about how you'll pay your bills can make an already stressful situation feel even more overwhelming. You may be wondering whether an adoption agency can help with rent, groceries, transportation, medical care, or other expenses during your pregnancy.
In Texas, certain pregnancy related living expenses can legally be covered by a licensed child placing agency. The type of assistance you receive depends on your individual needs and what is permitted under Texas law.
At Adoption Angels, all of our services for expectant and birth mothers are completely free. Our team will talk with you about your situation, explain what assistance may be available, and help connect you with additional resources when needed.
Can I Be Paid for Choosing Adoption?
No. An expectant mother cannot be paid in exchange for choosing adoption or placing her child for adoption.
Financial assistance is different. Texas law allows a licensed child placing agency to provide assistance with necessary pregnancy related expenses during pregnancy and after the baby's birth.
Receiving help with approved expenses does not mean you are being paid to choose adoption. It is intended to help relieve some of the financial stress associated with pregnancy so you can focus on your health, your baby, and making the decision that is right for you.
What Living Expenses Can Adoption Angels Help With?
Every woman's situation is different. When you contact Adoption Angels, we'll talk with you about your needs and determine what assistance may be available.
Depending on your circumstances, assistance may include:

- Food and groceries
- Transportation
- Maternity clothing
- Pregnancy related medical expenses
- Prenatal care
- Hospital and delivery expenses

How Long Can I Receive Financial Assistance?
Financial support doesn't necessarily end when your baby is born.
At Adoption Angels, approved financial assistance continues for eight weeks after placement. This can provide additional support as you recover from childbirth and begin adjusting emotionally and physically after placement.
Our counseling and support also continue after placement. Adoption is a lifelong experience, and we believe birth mothers deserve support beyond the day adoption paperwork is signed.
What If I Decide Not to Choose Adoption?
Talking with Adoption Angels does not obligate you to place your baby for adoption.
Our counselors are here to help you understand your options and make an informed decision without pressure. If you ultimately decide that adoption is not the right choice for you, we'll respect your decision.
We may also be able to connect you with resources for housing, education, employment, childcare, and other services that can help you move forward.
